Using the ‘well-to-wheel’ and ‘ETS’ methodology, Jozef Stefan Institute calculated an impressive -85% and 91% reduction of CO2 footprint for the production of alternative fuel from a mixture of biomass, SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel), and secondary carbonaceous materials. This rigorous analysis not only highlights the environmental benefits but also showcases the potential for innovative approaches in achieving significant carbon footprint reductions. The ‘well-to-wheel’ methodology ensures a holistic assessment, considering emissions throughout the entire lifecycle of the fuel. By incorporating biomass, SRF, and secondary carbonaceous materials into the production process, the Jozef Stefan Institute exemplifies a commitment to sustainable practices, offering a glimpse into a future where alternative fuels play a pivotal role in mitigating climate change and fostering a greener, more sustainable energy landscape.
